Dann Allen

DANN ALLEN – OWNER

2 minutes late of being the oldest twin, Dann Allen is also a history lover, photographer, preservationist, nature lover, wheat thin eater, cat lover, and a hard working man! He cares a great deal about preserving old properties as well as taking care of the Randolph County Infirmary/Asylum. Dan also owns the Old Haunted Jail in Blackford County (Hartford City) as well as The Ervin-Campbell Speakeasy also in Hartford City.

Kate Thornburg

KATE THORNBURG – MANAGER

Kate Thornburg, a Buckeye by birth, has spent the better part of her life supporting a military husband, raising their five children, and volunteering with army family support groups to help families through deployments. The Thornburg family has been stationed in posts across the eastern United States, from Kentucky to South Carolina, as well as in Germany. Since her husband’s retirement from the military, Kate and her family have lived in Winchester, Indiana where her husband grew up.

Kate’s volunteer work has continued since leaving the military. She is the current public relations director at the Randolph County Historical Society and a co-founder, acting director, grant writer, and board member of Ars Bellum Foundation, a non-profit that provides art therapy to veterans and first responders struggling with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Kate also homeschools two of her children. 

Kate joined the team at the Randolph County Asylum in August of 2019. In addition to her duties managing the properties and setting schedules, Kate is also helping in the foundation of a non-profit organization to help preserve the buildings. 

Ted Martin

TED MARTIN – HISTORICAL GUIDE

Born and raised in Winchester & married for 49 years with 2 children Ted is our Historic Guide. He is President of Historical Society, R.C. Council Man, President of Winchester Lions, County Liaison for 4h Club, Liaison for Extension Homemakers, Liaison for County EMS, Liaison for County Sheriff Dept., Board member of R.C. Solid Waste, Retired 41 year employee of OMCO Mould Winchester, Ancient Indiana Artifact Collector, Old fishing lure collector, and Specialty in the true Randolph County history and early residents of the Ran. Co. Asylum/Infirmary.

DANIELLE ORTEGA – TOUR GUIDE

Danielle Ortega is currently one of our tour guides at the Infirmary/Asylum as well as the Mansion.
