KATE THORNBURG – MANAGER
Kate Thornburg, a Buckeye by birth, has spent the better part of her life supporting a military husband, raising their five children, and volunteering with army family support groups to help families through deployments. The Thornburg family has been stationed in posts across the eastern United States, from Kentucky to South Carolina, as well as in Germany. Since her husband’s retirement from the military, Kate and her family have lived in Winchester, Indiana where her husband grew up.
Kate’s volunteer work has continued since leaving the military. She is the current public relations director at the Randolph County Historical Society and a co-founder, acting director, grant writer, and board member of Ars Bellum Foundation, a non-profit that provides art therapy to veterans and first responders struggling with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Kate also homeschools two of her children.
Kate joined the team at the Randolph County Asylum in August of 2019. In addition to her duties managing the properties and setting schedules, Kate is also helping in the foundation of a non-profit organization to help preserve the buildings.
